Missive alternative: the shared inbox that lives in Microsoft Teams

Missive is a good tool if your team wants to work in a separate program and does not need a German interface. If you work with Microsoft 365, need German hosting and want the inbox inside Teams, Teamox is the fitting alternative. The comparison in detail.

Five reasons teams switch from Missive to Teamox

1. No extra program

Missive is its own desktop and mobile app with its own login. Teamox runs as a tab inside Microsoft Teams, signs in with the Microsoft account and sends notifications to the Teams activity feed. On the phone it is part of the Teams app.

2. German, with a German contact person

Interface, help, invoice and support in German. Prices in euros, invoices with VAT, data processing agreement under GDPR included.

3. Emails stay in Exchange

Missive synchronises your mailboxes into its own database. Teamox reads live from Exchange Online and only stores assignment, status and notes. Folders and archive stay in sync in Outlook, resolving archives there too. More under Security and privacy.

4. The customer at a glance

Missive integrations have to be built by you or for you. Teamox shows shop orders (Shopware) and phone calls of the last 60 days (Placetel) with duration and colleague next to the email, linked via the customer number. Customer 360 in detail.

5. AI that knows the thread and your templates

Reply drafts from the whole thread plus your reply templates, summaries of long threads, rules in your own words. With your own OpenAI key, at no extra charge.

What Missive does better

Honestly: Missive has a chat per conversation, can bundle SMS, Instagram and Messenger next to email and has been on the market for many years. If you need those channels or do not have a Microsoft environment, you are well served by Missive. Teamox focuses on email and WhatsApp in Microsoft 365.

How the migration works

  1. Sign up for Teamox with your Microsoft account, connect mailboxes (four steps).
  2. Invite the team, assign roles. All emails are there immediately because they live in Exchange.
  3. On request: export Missive notes and labels via the API and import them into Teamox.
  4. Work in parallel for two weeks, then cancel Missive.

Frequently asked questions about switching from Missive

Can I take my Missive data to Teamox?
The emails already live in your Exchange mailbox with Missive and are available in Teamox immediately, including folders and archive. Notes, assignments and labels from Missive can be exported on request via the Missive API and imported as notes and labels.
What is different in Teamox compared to Missive?
Teamox runs inside Microsoft Teams instead of as a separate program, is available in German, leaves the emails in Exchange Online, offers real Outlook folders and shows the customer’s shop orders and phone calls next to the email. Missive has a chat per conversation, which Teamox deliberately does not replicate: discussion happens in notes or in Teams chat.
What does switching cost?
Teamox costs €19.99 per user per month, €199.90 per user billed yearly. Switching itself is free: connect mailboxes, invite the team, done. If you like, we accompany the move via screen share.
Can I use both tools in parallel?
Yes. Both read the same Exchange mailbox. Many teams keep Missive running during the trial and switch it off once the team has settled into Teamox.
